How to Connect Smartphone to Wireless Router in Packet Tracer

In this post, I will show you how to connect a smartphone to a wireless router in packet tracer.
Unlike other host devices like laptops or PCs, which have an Ethernet module on their network interface card (NIC) for cable connections, mobile devices like smartphones or tablets by default has a wireless module on the Network interface Card (NIC).

Wireless network

In this post, we will be connecting the smartphone shown in the network topology above to the wireless router.

Note: I completed the wireless router configuration in a separate post. I configured the wireless router as a DHCP server and configured it to broadcast wireless signals with an SSID (netizzan) and password (netizzan). Consider checking out the three posts below to learn how to do it.

Here is a video on how to connect Smartphone to Wireless router in packet tracer;

How to Connect Smartphone to Wireless Router

To connect a smartphone to a wireless router, navigate to Config tab>Wireless0, and enter the SSID and password configured on the wireless router, and the smartphone will be connected automatically to the wireless router.

Because DHCP services are configured on the wireless router, the smartphone will obtain an IP address automatically from the DHCP server. If there is no DHCP server on the network, then you will need to configure an IP address to the smartphone by going to Config>Wireless, selecting “Static” in the IP configuration section, and then manually entering the IP address.

Remember to configure the IP address of the default gateway if you are configuring the wireless interface manually by going to config tab>setting
